Life Workshop:Finding New Meaning For The Rest Of Your Life
Elderhood - A New Beginning
Saturday, JANUARY 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Presenter: Nell Martin

Never before in the history of the planet have so many people lived so long. What are the roles of elders in our society? What is your role? How do we create and claim elder roles for ourselves in a society greatly in need of elder wisdom but offering few such roles or models to its seniors? This is not something that is easily done alone. It requires preparation at all levels - physical, financial, psychological and spiritual. Come and explore answers to these questions and more. Reexamine and explore your own role as an elder.

Nell Martin is a pioneer in the study of Elderhood - Reimagining aging in our society today. A motivational speaker and training facilitator, Nell has worked with leaders throughout the country in the field or retirement life planning. Nell holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of North Alabama and Yeshiva University, respectively. In her free time, Nell is an accomplished painter. She currently resides in Sarasota with her husband Bill, and their schnauzer Maggie.

Life Workshop:Walking The Camino De Santiago
A Unifying Metaphor For Life
Saturday, MARCH 24, 2012 at 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Presenter: Peter Grant

In May 2002 Pete stood in Oloron St. Marie, France poised to start the ancient Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James), a 560-mile walking pilgrimage to Santiago, Spain. He was 64 years old, a novice backpacker, overweight and out of shape. Yet, it was time to take the first step. In the weeks that followed, Pete walked from France, up over the Pyrenees Mountains, into Spain and on toward Santiago. As he walked each day, talked with the people he met along the way, and reflected on his daily experience, Pete realized his pilgrimage was much more than a one-time journey. It was a unifying metaphor for his entire life. Come and share in Pete's journey ... and explore the pilgrimage that is your own life.

Peter Grant

Pete Grant is a "snow bird" who hails from Newtown, PA when he's not enjoying life in sunny Sarasota. He holds a B.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and an M.A. in Organizational Design. Pete married his high school sweetheart Anne; together they have five children and seven grandchildren. Pete retired 12 years ago after a 35 year career in the chemical industry.
